Well, I’m not sure, but we might have got too excited about the farm I mentioned before. Not out of the question, but not as much of a “sure thing” as I thought at first. Mom and Dad have left to go look at a place in Western PA. This whole thing has got me kind of edgy. The boys and I are running things here alone till the folks get back. It sure is wonderful having sons to work with you. I would hate to think of having to leave home everyday to “work” without my boys. The thought of such a life just about kills me.

My ancestors fled the tyranny of their nation in order to find adventure, fortune, and freedom in another land.

I’m thinking of doing the same. Namibia Africa…specifically the small coastal town of Luderitz looks promising. I’m sure getting farmland wouldn’t be too difficult. I’m also sure you wouldn’t have to ask our benevolent keepers before planting certain crops, or raising farm animals.

I day-dream of a 100 acre farm / ranch on the ocean where I can raise my children (should some woman lose her mind and marry me, and God bless us with some) any way I darn well please. It’s not going to happen in America…that’s for sure.

    Scott,

Sorry to hear that first farm may not be the one. I was hoping you would be closer to me. I guess I don’t feel so bad now that I didn’t offer to help you move last week. I pulled a muscle in my shoulder and was useless. Besides that, my kids are pretty much grown and off working for others so they aren’t available to help like they once were. Hope the PA farm works out. And I hope you can stay home with your family. It’s no fun heading off to an industrial job every day when you know you should be at home.

    Shotgun-
You might want to check out Texas. I understand there’s places in Texas where you can raise your children any way you please. Or maybe Oklahoma. A homeschooling family in my community just “fled” to Oklahoma because the local government school gestapo were giving them a hard time. Seems they didn’t file their “quarterly report” on time and a social worker went to the house. The mother was spooked by the whole thing and promptly headed to OK with three youngsters. Three older children and the husband are taking care of loose ends and following shortly. I hate to see them go. They are good folks. So before you head to Namimbia, maybe you should check out TX or OK. Just a suggestion.

    Scott and Leah,
I’m so very sorry that you guys are forced into this situation. I’ve got some very unchristian thoughts roaming about in my head for your landlord. Suppose I’d better read some imprecatory psalms instead! I have been praying, and will continue to pray for you, your precious children, and your cows.

Not again, I thought that we had finally moved you for the last time. I am very sorry to hear that things didn’t work out. I know how hard it is to move a farm, can’t imagine you not milking cows, im sure the lord will provide a place for you to continue. if not I hate the thought of having to drive to Alaska to visit. P.S. You will never make it at a factory job, first of all they don’t exist anymore , and second 3 days of work at a factory and your mind would explode. if you truly have to find another line of income, focus on your literary, and story telling skills, I think it a great loss for the rest of us if you don’t at least write one book.

Mercy Maud, Scott! My browser hasn’t been updating pages properly or I’d've seen all this before. I’ll be praying for you all. Hope the PA farm works out. But maybe you should consider Texas — it’s a great place to raise your children and homeschooling there is wonderful. You don’t report to anyone, you just home school. I loved living there.

    Hi Scott
Wow - I am shocked. I hate to think of all the improvements you have made there, as well as the fact that you truley were a steward of the land - to have them sell it out from beneath you!! SHame on them -

Now - if you want to come to Texas!!!

    I wish you the best!!
    Shannon
