Tuesday Jan 6
Greetings from Mt Hunger. Since last I wrote we’ve had another set back. The transmission on our van is shot, so I’m walking everywhere I go these days. A couple days ago it was 4 degrees with a stiff wind when I left for the barn and I was about froze when I got to the bottom of the hill. I cross a couple pastures and travel on the edge of the “little woods” to get to the cow barns. The deer and foxes have started using my trail in the snow and its always interesting to see what the wild critters have been up to the night before.
I still have not killed the pig, living on beef and venison these days. The pig is down in a barn now in the valley and off the frozen hilltop. I’m letting him put on a little more weight before I kill him. To those of you who have been to my place and are wondering how I got a 175 lb pig down there, I’ll tell you. I let him out of his pen and called him. Me and old porky just walked cross lots and went through the folk’s yard and across the road. That old pig follows me just like a dog. It pays to make a pig a pet.
I’ve been looking through seed catalogs by the fire at night. Baker Creek’s catalog just gets better every year. If you don’t get their catalog be sure to order one, its a wonderful sight to behold.
Word has it that it will soon be illegal to sell or buy used clothing (anything manufactured before a certain date). Yup, you read that right, it never ceases to amaze me how out of control this criminal government has gotten. My wife showed me the bill earlier today but I’m to lazy to find it right now. I’m sure you can google the details.
Fellow Christian agrarian Franklin Sanders has a good article out worth reading, THE WAGES OF SIN
(are paid in fiat money)
Our friend Rob from the Wild Craft blog has started a forum that he’s trying to get off the ground. Looks interesting, check it out here
As we watch the pagan industrial culture collapse, I find these words from the late R.J. Rushdoony worth reading…
In the short term - say the next ten, fifteen, twenty years - its going to be grim. Long-term, very good, because I believe the Word of God. It tells us that the wages of sin are always death. And all they that hate me, God says, love death. It is ridiculous for Christians to believe that the opposition can win….
I think that people will soon feel that they are in a new Dark Age. But it will be the death of humanistic statism, and the throes of birth for Christian freedom. So I am hopeful in long run and know that ours is the victory. “This is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith”.

Hey Scott.
Thanks for the plug! I am hoping to make the forums a community effort.
I’m a fan of Rushdoony as well. His ‘Systematic Theology’ and ‘Institutes of Biblical Law’ are quite revealing. I miss him.

I almost forgot. Please, have me over when you do kill that pig. I’d like to be there. I keep telling Abby that we need to have pigs when we’re in Nanticoke, but she keeps telling me that they’re stinky and that I wouldn’t know what to do with them anyhow.

Hey Scott!
Glad you started writing again. I started to worry, cause you hadn’t written in a while. I just wanted to tell you that I’ve got a new sticker knife that I’d like to try out.
Your old friend dave.

Hey Brother,
We’ve missed you. That’s pretty funny about the pig. The last time we talked, you and the whole family had just spent the night chasing it down cause it had gotten loose.
I thought you and your readers would find this quite interesting regarding Monsanto’s 117% Growth in Earnings in 1Q…
The company cited growth in its Latin American businesses, as well as increased sales of its herbicides and corn seed in Brazil and higher-than-expected sales of corn and soybean seed in the U.S. for the impressive results.
Here’s a copy of the link to the whole story…

Sorry, I don’t know how to post it as a link.

Nevermind the apology. I guess it comes up as a link automatically. :o)

The used clothing thing is true. The law goes into effect on Feb 10th and will require all sellers of clothing manufactured before Feb10th, 2009 to conduct lead poison testing on EVERY article of clthing they sell. It’s called the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. Here’s the link…

Is there anyone in Washington DC who is not a blithering idiot? Oh yes, there is one and ONLY ONE who voted against this display of modern moronic mania…. RON PAUL!

Scott, thanks for the link to the Franklin Sander’s article, which does an excellent job with dealing with the biblical ethics of fiat currency and usury. Rushdoony’s prediction of the death of humanistic statism is right in line with God’s law. Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless (Psalms 60:11).

I meant to plug your forum sooner. Hope people sign up. The Institutes of Biblical Law is a book everyone should read. I too miss Rushdoony.

I’ll be sure to let you know when we get ready to kill him. I’ll have a talk with Abby for you, pigs don’t stink that bad and everyone knows what to do with them….You Eat Them!
I got your message about your roof, give me a call, I’d be glad to come help out.
Dave
Good to hear from you brother. Hope all is well back in the flat land country. I’d love to have you out at butcherin’ time (if you don’t mind the 3 hour drive). To those who don’t know Dave, he and I grew up together and we killed and cut up countless numbers of pigs and beef and deer over the years. I learned most of what I know about meat cutting from Dave. He was also my maple syrup partner back home. We made a lot of sugar in those days and practically lived in the woods. We also hunted and trapped together and I miss having him around.
Matt
Good to hear from you, been going to call you but I need to conserve minutes till I start making money again. Thanks for the Monsanto and Used Clothing Law links. Monsanto is a parasite, a wicked vile creature that must and will be destroyed. Yes, Ron Paul is the only person in Washington DC that should not be tried for treason. I admire him for sticking to his principals and his efforts to expose and destroy the Fed.

Hope all is well out your way. I really like Franklin Sanders and thought that article was great. I wish more people would read his stuff. Hard times are a coming, and the Christian should not be suprised, but most of the ones I talk to don’t have a clue about what the bible says about economics. To many of them are praying that God preserves the wicked system that violates all 10 of the 10 commandments and sets itself up as god.

Scott, speaking of used clothing. I was wondering if you could use a box of girls clothes size 3-6 months. Our little girl just grew out of them. Hoping little girl could get some use out of them.

Good Afternoon Scott,
Cheri, over at TN Farmgirl posted on the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. Several people commented and left links that seem to exempt or at least loosen the reins on used clothing, books, toys, etc made of non-lead containing materials such as cotton, wood, etc. My question is what about polyester and plastic coated paper for childrens books? Maybe I’m just a little paranoid of government over-regulation these days. Hmmm, no reason for that, is there?

Heidi
That sounds good. I’ll email you later. Thanks for thinking of us!
Matt
Leah showed me the “clarification page” at lunch. My guess is the angry mobs of calls and emails thwarted the plans. We really need to pay more attention to this stuff. Swat teams stopping you from buying food direct then laws that can be interpreted to ban the sale of used clothing, all on the eve of a depression…..I’m sure its all a coincidence

Scott, perhaps you are unto something. Americans have gone from being participators and producers to spectators and consumers. Our corporate-state based economy is built upon forced consumerism, where we are compelled to constantly consume (by cash and credit) as the means to keep the “economy” going. One of the largest “products” consumed in this nation is credit, which are called credit products by the government “experts” that report the GNP. For this type of consumerism to work, that is, to keep the corporate state in power, we must consume products made by various corporations that rule our nation. Products made by common citizens only interfere and God forbid that used products should be sold at the local level, such as children’s clothing. Otherwise, how will Wal-Mart and other companies that keep our nation going survive which such competition?

Thats exactly what I’m saying and most people think I’m completely nuts. I’ve watched these people for to long to think its all a coincidence.
Hi Debbie
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. May the Lord bless your efforts and give you all safe passage to Texas. From BC to Texas, wow, that will take some adjusting to
