Noah’s No Shop Keeper
The boys have talked me into reading the Little House series again. We’ve read them all at least once and some 4 times or more. They love them. Family reading time is one of the highlights of our day, the boys never fail to give their commentary as we read along. We are reading On the Shores of Silver Lake right now. The other day Pa was talking a job as a shop keeper. Noah, who just turned 4, says “You know Dad, I don’t think I could ever be a shop keeper. Not after being a farmer all these years.” I just gave him a big hug, I mean what else could I do.

Scott,
I love hearing stories of your boys. They say the most precious things.
And a hearty Congratulations to you and Leah on the new FARMER to be added to your family!

Congrats Scott another soul in existence NOW!
We love the ingalls books so much we bought a closeout bulk order and give them away as presents.
Pa is certainly a hard man to live up to, I bet he even has a bushier beard than me.

Sorry to come back agin so soon, but I agree that story time , is near sacred time with the children. It is so vitally important. We are trying to find books with merit beyond just fast speed entertainment. I did a foolish thing, I got my eldest hooked on Tolkien at ten years. At the time I thought reading LOTR was an accomplishment. However upon reflection I wish I had delayed it and stopped at the hobbit. It is just that LOTR is so mentally stimulating that I am finding iit hard to get her interested in ’slower’ fiction. Fiction that has boys and girls interacting without an agenda are top of my list at the moment.
Swallows and Amazons
Narnia
Enid blyton, famous five
And of course those Ingalls
We also got a load from grace and truth, which are reprints of books from the victorian era with great powerfull Christ centered messages in them.
God Bless

How cute! My niece, when she was four, said something to the effect of “That is the biggest … I have seen in my WHOLE life!!!” I had to laugh. What a vast experience for such a long life…

Or, here’s another one from a four or five year old “Tell me a story about when I was a kid.”

Scott, I believe those young Terrys are more man than most adult men that I know around here. I am a “shop keeper” and you can tell your son from a shop keeper that yes, he would rather be a farmer… just like his daddy.
BTW - My house is not selling even though it’s priced significantly below market. No houses are selling here right now. Stacy has very difficult pregnancies, and her migraines are starting in full force so if it doesn’t sell within a couple of weeks we are going to take it off the market and make plans to bunker down here.

Hi Deb
Good to hear from you! Yes, those boys come up with some good ones.
Colin
Good to hear from you as well! I’ll have to look into the Grace and Truth reprints, I’ve never heard of them before. Hope all is well “across the pond”.
Hi Ginny
You’ve got to love the stuff little ones come up with. Of course my kids hang out with and work with grown folks most of the time so they talk like we do.
Matt
I told Noah
We will keep you folks in our prayers, especially Stacy and the pregnancy.
