Pastor McAtee is correct. Both of these “Christian” men are adherents of the same faith of polytheism, where God is represented in many ways, such as the god of Allah, whom Bush worshipped in keeping the holyday of Ramadan at the white house, and Romney’s god of Mormonism, for which both faiths openly deny the triune God of the Scriptures and the name of the only Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, the only name under Heaven by which men are saved. Of course, Christians will go on blindly voting for the lesser of two evils in trying to elect a “conservative” candidate that best represents “family values and faith.” Given American Christendom’s ongoing propensity to elect apostate men, for which it does not learn from its own dreadful errors, Hillary might be the best option for America in waking it up unto repentance, since she is such a glaring example and reflection of the paganism which runs rampant in the churches.
“However You are just in all that has befallen us; For You have dealt faithfully, But we have done wickedly.
Neither our presidents nor our other elected officials, Our ministers nor our fathers, Have kept Your law, Nor heeded Your commandments and Your testimonies, With which You testified against them. For they have not served You in the kingdom, Or in the many good things that You gave them, Or in the large and rich land which You set before them; Nor did they turn from their wicked works. “Here we are, slaves today! And the land that You gave to our fathers, To eat its fruit and its bounty, Here we are, slaves in it! And it yields much increase to the economic masters You have set over us, Because of our sins; Also they have dominion over our labor and our assets At their pleasure; And we are in great distress” (Nehemiah 9:33-37 paraphrased to fit our present circumstances).
Isn’t it nice we can sit here on our blessed assurance and point fingers at anothers faith? Judging them as “not as good as we are” Man may look on the outward appearence but God looks at the heart. In the end when we stand before the Lord we will have to give an account for no one but ourselves. I won’t have to answer for Mr. Bush or Mr. Romney
Bush has publicly stated that “Muslims worship the same god that we do” and as president bowed before an idol in a foreign country. As Missouri Rev pointed out, he also kept the “holyday” of Ramadan at the white house. He is a polytheist and an idolator. Mitt is a mormon, which is not by any stretch of the imagination orthodox or Christian. Both of these men have shown by their fruit (words and deeds) what kind of faith they have. I’m not claiming to read hearts, just fruit. Jesus taught that we would know a tree by its fruit. While we are justified by faith alone, we never justified by a faith that is alone. A saving faith has fruit.
We should pray for both these men, that they would repent and call on Jesus, the only name which can save anyone. We might also pray that those who claim Christ and govern over us might govern as a Christian should, in compliance with Gods law-word, and not as heathens.
When a man is beholden to the public trust as a ruler over them, his faith is not a private matter for it is openly expressed in both his actions and public profession, be it for good or for evil, which has profound consequences upon those they rule. Since we are accountable to the Lord for whom we choose as rulers, to not expose those whose faith denies the only and true God, is to deserve whatever comes from their evil deeds. Christians have a biblical precedent to elect only those who are truly a brother in the Lord, and no one who is a foreigner to Christ, an unbeliever, no matter how religious or pious they may appear (Deu. 17:14.)
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?17 “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.20 “Therefore by their fruits you will know them. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Matthew 7:15-23
I agree with Scott, Pastor McAtee and Missouri Rev. I agree with Patti that we will be held accountable for our own actions, but those actions include our votes. God has provided biblical criteria for civil magistrates and to be obedient to him we should not knowingly vote for candidates that fail to meet those criteria.
