The 3rd Choice

Agrarianism has been refered to by some as a “3rd choice”, something other than modern left vs. right mentality. This is very true, and it causes no small amount of ruckus whenever it is discussed. It’s not uncommon for agrarians to be called everything from left wing commies to right wing nuts in the course of one discussion. This is becouse modern americans have been tricked into thinking in this right/left box. I always seem to drive people crazy when I say something like “What passes for ‘conservative Christian thought’ is neither conservative nor Christian”. Making people realize this is one of our hardest tasks. American Christians tend to veiw the bible through “american eyes”, filtering the scriptures through a system that sees fallen man as inheritently “good” and holder of some mystical right of absolute property rights(one with no restrictions or limitations). This view is not scriptural, but don’t try to tell this to american preachers or theologians who have traded the Triune God and His limits for John Locke’s enlightenment fraud. Stranger yet are the so called theocrats in reformed land that insist God’s Law is the standard, but then baptise the Austrian economic therory and all of its problems. An agrarianism, with biblical limitations and common sense is the only workable answer to our current problems. The question is whether or not any one will realize this before its to late for our country. It may be to late already, I don’t know, but with hope I continue this journey. Perhaps we can’t save this once great country, perhaps we will be the ones to rebuild Christian civilization after this faithless one vanishes from the earth. We don’t know, we can’t know, but in faith and hope we must continue.

Its almost amusing sometimes to challenge such binary thinking. Depressing, yes, especially with otherwise “intelligent” people. But there’s something comical about the way they flounder trying to pidgeonhole you into their either/or mindset.

However, when we pigeonhole them, we feel that we aren’t doing what they are doing. People need “educating” not pigeonholing. Love and mercy over judgment.
Changing people’s minds take time. We may not have enough time, but surely the Lord does.
