USURY, A Scriptural, Ethical and Economic View

My friend David passed along this link to a Project Gutenberg Ebook on Usury. I have not had a chance to read much of it but David read it and highly recomends it. It was published in 1902 by the THE ANTI-USURY LEAGUE of Ohio. Heres the Link.

Things are busy here with bean canning and haying. I’m finishing up an article that will be published in the next installment of the Frontier Freedom Magazine on natural treatments for mastitis. Hope to be doing more with the blog soon. Until then….may the Lord bless you all.

Thanks for the link - it looks like it’s going to clear up some questions I had about whether Christians are ever allowed to charge interest.

    Hi Kelly

Glad you found it helpful. We are still praying that you get some rain down that way.

The whole housing system is based on usury. a house is a basic requirement of life and to charge any interest on that is usuary of the worst kind. Slavery under usurous debt seems to be the modern accepted thing. Interest could in medieval times only be charged on a loan that was for speculatory purposes.
Most here are so truly blessed to own our land as Freemen not as serfs.

    Hi Colin

Here in the USA, the whole housing system is about to fall apart. When the ole chicken comes to roost, its going to cause an awful lot hardship on an awful lot of folks.

You know, it wasn’t always that way. Until the 1500’s the Church had always taught that usury was a sin. I just remembered this post from our friend Chad that folks might like to read….
