Broiler Profits, The Fair and Other Stuff
As always, things are busy. We are done prossesing the first batch of broilers and have been getting them out of the freezer and off to their new owners. The fair is this week as well. We didn’t take any cows this year, just some canned goods and produce. I am, however, spending some time down there in the evenings watching a booth dedicated to exposing and educating folks about free trade deals, illegal imigrants, bankers and globalism.
You might remember that I had said I thought I would most likely make $2 a bird with the broilers this year. As always, I was figuring in every thing that could and would go wrong in those figures. As it turns out, I’m making almost $7 a bird with this group!!!!! They averaged 5 lbs. I get $2.50 a lb for them and had about $5 per bird in expences. I now have high hopes for this business and we will step up the marketing plans for sure. The best part is the buyers are smilling and happier than pigs in slop, while they write you the check! In all my years of farming I’ve never made that kind of return for the amount of work I did. Now the next step is selling enough of them to make a difference on this sinking ship.
Word MP3 has a special on Dr. R.J. Rushdoony’s tremendous study of “American History: 1776-1865.” You get all 35 mp3s for $9. I paid $50 for the tape set a few years ago. This is worth the $9, folks. If you have youngsters in the house, it makes a great overveiw of American history from a Christian prespective. Rushdoony had a tremendous influence on me, he taught me how think like a Christian in every area of life.
Heres The Link.
We still have more rain than we need. The garden is doing real good, we have beans and summer squash comming out our ears. We are praying for all our friends out there suffering drought. Keep the faith, somehow God always works it out in the end. I wish we could send some water your way, couse we got way too much.

Great job on your broilers. We have found our first batch in the spring and our last batch in the fall are always the biggest. We have tried to figure out why, but just guess it is the heat of summer that keeps the others from doing as well.
I tried a couple of times to comment on your last post. I, being a real hick felt right at home. However, both times my attempt failed and so I didn’t post.

Opps, looks like the sale on Rushdoony’s set is over. I should have posted it sooner, I suppose. Clicked on it this morning and it said it was $50.
